Goal

    Linux Seminar 2000 is intended to be a forum for IT managers and specialists to gather information, and to discuss Linux-related issues -- in order to determine a strategy for Linux utilization in Vietnam.

Agenda

    Linux Seminar 2000 focuses on the following topics:

    • Linux applications in the marketplace;
    • Requirements and issues to resolve for Linux usage in Vietnam;
    • Proposals for using Linux in Vietnam;
    • Exhibits, demo's of Linux products and applications.

Who should participate?

    • IT managers, strategists;
    • IT researchers, instructors;
    • Technical specialists in IT departments, companies;
    • Foreign specialists.

    Organizers/Sponsors: Management Committee of the Hoa Lac High Technology Zone, Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (MOSTE), and other cooperating agencies.

    • 2000-10-30: submission of abstracts for papers to be presented.
    • 2000-11-15: submission of completed papers. Papers -- in Vietnamese or English -- may be submitted in HTML, MS Word or PDF, using TCVN5712 or Unicode.
    • 2000-11-15: registration for exhibition and product demonstration.
    • 2000-11-15: notice to Organizing Committee of intention to attend Seminar.

Weather

    The winter monsoon, between October and March, brings wet and chilly temperatures to the north, but dry and warm temperatures to the south -- so be prepared to dress in layers. This year also marks the 990th anniversary of the founding of Thang Long (Rising Dragon), which eventually became Hanoi.
